About this site
MN Care Buddy is built and maintained by Daniel C. Swenson, a Minnesota workers' compensation attorney at Robert Wilson & Associates in Minneapolis (Minnesota attorney license 0396275). It exists because choosing a nursing home or assisted living for someone you love usually happens in the worst week to be doing research, and the public records that would actually help are scattered across federal and state websites that were not built for that week.
This site puts those records in one place: Minnesota Department of Health licensing and enforcement files, and the federal CMS Care Compare data behind Medicare's nursing home ratings. Every facility page shows the date the record was last checked against the source.
What this site is not
- It is not a placement agency, and it does not rank, recommend, or endorse any facility. No facility can pay to appear here or to look better here; the records come from the government and facilities cannot edit them.
- It is not affiliated with the Minnesota Department of Health, with Medicare, or with any facility or chain.
- It is not legal or medical advice, and reading it does not create an attorney-client relationship.
How the site is paid for
Plainly: the records, tools, guides, and checklists are free and always will be. If you ask for placement help and your family would pay for care privately, your inquiry may someday be passed to one placement professional who pays to receive inquiries; that is disclosed on the form before you send anything, and nothing is ever sent without your explicit consent. When Medicaid may pay for care, federal law sharply limits paid referrals, so this site takes no such inquiries and points you to free public help instead. And if you ask about possible neglect, that note goes to Dan and his firm, never to any paid referral of any kind.
Questions about the site itself can go to daniel.c.swenson@gmail.com. Robert Wilson & Associates is at 404 3rd Ave N, Suite 201, Minneapolis, MN 55401, 651-283-8747.
Where the data comes from
Facility information comes from two public sources: Minnesota Department of Health licensing and enforcement records, and the federal CMS Care Compare files behind Medicare's nursing home ratings. Each page shows the date we last checked the records. The official records control; if something here looks wrong, check the source links or tell us.
Start with the facility lookup, the side-by-side compare, or the honest guide to choosing care.
